Athens Transport schedule for Summer 2018

During the summer months of 2018, from late June to the middle of September, public transportation in Athens runs on special Summer schedules.

This is to allow for summer vacations for the personnel as well as adapt to the reduced demand for some services.

Be aware than the announced schedule might in some cases differ from the actual services due to reduced availability of personnel.

Buses and Trolleybuses

Buses and Trolleybuses run on special summer schedules from the end of June to the middle of September.

There are two summer schedules: the first one is used from late June to late July and during the first half of September. The second one, with less frequent services, is used from the end of July to the end of August.

According to Athens transport authorities, the lines that serve the airport as well as the beaches close to Athens run a more frequent service during the summer months.

Metro line 1

Trains on Metro line 1 (the green line) will run on a summer schedule from Monday July 9th to Friday September 7th 2018:

  • From July 9th to July 22nd: Every 7.5 mins from Monday to Friday (every 11.5 mins from 10:30pm – 11pm and every 12.5 mins from 11pm to 11:30pm) and every 10.5 mins on weekends.
  • From July 23rd to August 14th: Every 10.5 mins from Monday to Friday and every 12.5 mins on the weekends.
  • Wednesday August 15th: Every 12.5 mins
  • From August 16th to August 19th: Every 10.5 mins
  • From August 20th to September 7th: Every 7.5 mins from Monday to Friday (every 11.5 mins from 10:30pm – 11pm and every 12.5 mins from 11pm to 11:30pm) and every 10.5 mins on weekends.
  • Note: From 5am to 5:30 am and after 11pm (11:30 on weekends) trains run always every 15 mins. Metro line 1 is running from 5am to just after midnight 7 days a week.

 


Metro lines 2 & 3

Metro lines 2 & 3 (the red and blue lines) will run on a summer schedule from Monday July 9th to Friday August 31st.

  • From July 9th to July 29th:
    From Monday to Friday, every 5 mins from 6am to 5:30pm, every 7 mins from 5:30pm – 10pm, and every 10 mins for the rest of the day.
    On the weekends, every 7 mins from 9am to 5pm and every 10 mins the rest of the day.
  • From July 30th to August 9th:
    From Monday to Friday every 7 mins from 6:30am to 10pm and every 10 mins the rest of the day.
    On the weekends, every 7 mins from 9am to 5pm and every 10 mins the rest of the day.
  • From August 10th to August 15th: Every 12 mins in line 2 and every 15 mins in line 3.
  • Thursday August 16th and Friday August 17th: Every 7 mins from 6:30am to 10pm and every 10 mins the rest of the day
  • Saturday August 18th and Sunday August 19th: Every 7 mins from 9am to 5pm and every 10 mins the rest of the day
  • From August 20th to August 31st:
    From Monday to Friday, every 5 mins from 6am to 5:30pm, every 7 mins from 5:30pm – 10pm, and every 10 mins for the rest of the day.
    On the weekends, every 10 mins.
  • Note 1: Every Friday and Saturday night (Saturday and Sunday early morning), trains on lines 2 and 3 are running every 15 mins. On line 3, trains to the airport are running always every 30 mins.
  • Note 2: Metro lines 2 and 3 are running from 5:30am to 00:30am every night from Sunday to Thursday and until 2:30am on Friday and Saturday night (Saturday and Sunday early morning).

 


Tram

The Tram will be running on summer schedule from July 2nd to September 7th 2018:

  • Note: Dates on the table are in ‘day/month’ format. ‘2/7’ is July 2nd.

 


Suburban railway

From 1st to 31st of August, 2018, there will be cancellation of the following Athens suburban railway services:

  • No trains will be running exclusively between Liosia – Koropi. Trains between Liosia – Airport (stopping at all stations) will be running normally every hour.
  • First early morning train between Athens – Kiato and last night train between Kiato – Athens cancelled.
  • Four trains between Athens – Halkida – Athens cancelled. Trains will be running every 2 hours.
